Reduce Stress and Increase Motivation by Getting your Blood Pumping

Do you wish could get up every morning and go for a jog? Do you plan on an evening walk, but then find your self getting too caught up in the stress of your day?

If this sounds a little like you, here are some tips for reducing stress and increasing motivation by getting your blood pumping in a way that will help you get and stay fit.

Exercise is the Great Stress Reducer

Without a doubt, exercise is known as the great stress reducer. Stress is normal, but too much stress can cause serious damage to your health and body.

What is the best way to lighten the load of a heavy day? The best way to find release from stress is through exercise. Exercise has become the universal prescription for reducing stress and even the symptoms of mild to moderate depression. It appears that changes in your brain chemistry are provoked by exercise. In fact, recent studies have shown that exercise can be just as effective as the most popular antidepressant drugs. For maximum effect, doctors recommend one hour of exercise each day, seven days a week. Exercise need not be difficult. A walk outside in the early morning for an hour is enough to do the trick.

Kick Up Your Feet and Do A Little Dance

What is the best way to find relief from the inevitable stress of everyday life? The best way to relieve stress is to have fun, of course. Perhaps exercise and fun do not often come in the same breath, but that does not mean that the combination is impossible. There are many ways to have fun while getting your blood pumping. And the more fun you have, the more likely you are to keep exercising, and then of course, the more likely you are to experience stress reduction. Dancing—ballroom, hip-hop, tap, jazz, and modern interpretive, whatever—is a great way to have fun, reduce stress and get your blood pumping.

Finding Other Activities That Reduce Stress and Increase Motivation

There are fortunately many other great activities that can help you reduce stress and increase motivation by getting your blood pumping. The idea is to find something you actually enjoy doing, so you are more motivated to stay active. Fun activities that can help you reduce the stress of every day life as well as to keep your motivation and get you blood pumping include bicycling, walking, swimming, and taking up a sport such as tennis, golf, or other sports that you have enjoyed in the past.

Stay Motivated with a Fitness Buddy

What is one of the best ways to stay focused and motivated and steady with your exercise regime? One of the best things you can do to say motivated and focused is to find an exercise buddy. That is, find someone else with similar exercise, stress reduction and weight loss goals, and find an activity that the two of you can do together. Perhaps the two of you have always wanted to try tennis, or you would like someone to go on walks with you. This is a great idea to make sure that you have made a commitment to whatever exercise activity you have taken up.

Complement Your Fitness Routine with Other Stress Reduction Activities

Exercise is by far the easiest way to find relief from stress. It is a good idea to complement your stress reduction exercise with quieter stress-reducing activities such as yoga, restful sleep, stretching, and of course, nourishing your body with the best foods possible. After all, after exercising your body, it only makes sense to maintain your body and mind in the best possible condition.
